Meet the Artists: Black Hills State University Faculty Exhibition WHO: Black Hills State University Department of Fine Arts Faculty WHAT: Black Hills State Faculty Exhibition WHEN: October 11, 2024 - January 4, 2025 ARTISTS’ RECEPTION: November 1, 2024 WHERE: Dahl Arts Center, Downtown Rapid City The Rapid City Arts Council (RCAC) is proud to present a group exhibition showcasing the works of the Black Hills State University (BHSU) Fine Arts faculty. This exhibition will be in the Sen. Stan Adelstein and Lynda K. Clark Gallery from October 11, 2024 to January 4, 2025. This exhibition will feature a diverse collection of artworks by Michael Baum, Bridget Beck, Justin Bergh, Skott Chandler, Gina Gibson, Allen Morris, Quintin Owens, J. Desy Shoenewies, Erin Sedra, and Katie Wolff. These esteemed artists, who collectively educate students in BHSU’s Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) program, will display their personal artistic styles and mediums. This exhibition offers the Black Hills community a unique opportunity to view the breadth and diversity of artistic practice among those teaching art. A variety of mediums will be on display, including screenprints, stained glass, oil paintings, ceramics, and photography. For those interested in interacting with the art on exhibit, the BHSU Faculty will host art activities during the Community Appreciation Night at the Dahl on October 24 from 5-8pm. Adjunct professor Bridget Beck invites the public to get up close to her sculptures, learning her process and taking a piece of art home. About the BHSU’s Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree: The BFA program at Black Hills State University offers a broad, ‘arts generalist’ approach, encouraging students to explore a range of mediums and techniques. With small class sizes and individual studio spaces, students benefit from personalized mentorship from nationally and internationally recognized faculty. The program requires 60 credits in general studio arts and 15 elective credits, providing a strong foundation while allowing students to specialize as they advance in their studies.
