Northern Plains Watercolor Society: Members’ 29th Annual Celebration of Light Exhibition and Sale WHO: Northern Plains Watercolor Society WHAT: Members’ 29th Annual Celebration of Light Exhibition and Sale WHEN: August 28 - November 30, 2024 ARTISTS’ RECEPTION: September 13 | 5-7pm WHERE: Dahl Arts Center, Downtown Rapid City The Northern Plains Watercolor Society (NPWS) Members’ 28th Annual Celebration of Light Exhibition will open in the Inez & Milton Shaver Gallery and Denise Du Broy Gallery at the Dahl Arts Center from August 28 through November 30, 2024. An artists’ reception will be held on Friday, September 13 from 5-7pm. Visitors to the exhibition are encouraged to vote for the People’s Choice Award, which will be announced when the exhibition ends. NPWS Co-President, Jackie Long, said about the exhibition, “The Northern Plains Watercolor Society plays a significant role in promoting the art of watercolor painting in the region. It provides artists with a platform to showcase their work, connect with peers, and enhance their skills through various programs and events. The annual art exhibit is a highlight for members, offering an opportunity to display their creations in a professional setting like the Dahl, which elevates the quality and presentation of their work.” Over 50 watercolor pieces will be on display showcasing a cross-section of works created by over 30 artists with a wide range of subject matter from floral to architecture. The juror for this year’s exhibition, Keiko Tanabe, will be selecting the 16 awards for this year’s show. Tanabe is a world renowned self-taught artist and an appointed member of the advisory board of the American Watercolor Weekly, a member of the National Watercolor Society, American Watercolor Society, and the American Impressionist Society.
