John T Vucurevich Event Center When the pandemic disrupted the lives of many musicians, Hank Harris and Greg McDonald found solace and creativity on a sunlit deck, sharing their passion for music with the world. These casual summer jam sessions evolved into something special. Although both are talented songwriters, they focused on cover tunes at first. The magic they created together resonated with audiences, leading to a series of intimate gigs that garnered a devoted following. As winter approaches and Greg returns to the Philippines, they leave us with a promise - next year will bring more of their original compositions. Until then, join us at the upcoming Friends of the Dahl event, where Hank Harris and Greg McDonald will serenade you with their heartwarming melodies and soulful tunes. An audio component in the Lakota language emphasizes family roots. This exhibition uplifts the significance of “Wotakuye” (relationships) in generations of Lakota families. Keith completed his MFA at the University of SD and currently teaches at Oglala Lakota College. |

Live @ The DahlJAS Quintet
October 13 | Doors Open 7pm, Show Starts at 7:30pm John T Vucurevich Event Center Join us for an unforgettable evening of live music at the Dahl Arts Center! The JAS Quintet will be taking the stage to deliver an incredible performance that will leave you wanting more. Get ready to groove to their soulful tunes and be captivated by their musical talent. This in-person event is not to be missed! JAS features the classic jazz quintet instrumentation of trumpet, saxophone, piano, bass, and drums. Their repertoire is a diverse mix of old and new, featuring many original compositions and arrangements by members of the band. Concerts include favorites from Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Miles Davis, Clifford Brown, Thelonious Monk, Duke Ellington, and contemporary artists. You are sure to hear many familiar tunes during a JAS concert, along with a few new jazz classics. The members of the JAS Quintet are recognized as some of the region's finest jazz musicians and educators. Touring extensively throughout South Dakota as a part of the South Dakota Arts Council’s Touring Artist program, the JAS Quintet has established a reputation as one of the top jazz ensembles in the region.
