STANFORD M. & LYNDA ADELSTEIN ART GRANT

What is the Adelstein Art Grant?
Stan & Lynda Adelstein are committed to the Rapid City Area and to bringing new arts, culture, and experiences to the area. The Stanford M. & Lynda Adelstein Art Grant is a grant for arts organizations who have exciting and unexpected opportunities arise that requires funding to make them available. It is to help bring these opportunities to the Rapid City area and increase the quality of arts opportunities for those in our community. Examples of things that this grant can be used for are unique: concerts, classes/camps, artist residencies, guest speakers, and performances. The grant is for one-time events that are not a part of the regular scheduled season activities for the organization. Organizations may apply for more than one Adelstein Art Grant, but are limited to one per proposed activity.

Purpose of the Adelstein Art Grant
The purpose of the grant is to help facilitate arts opportunities that may not have been originally budgeted for or included in regular seasonal programming by non-profit arts organizations in the Black Hills Area.

Grant Amounts
Previously, grants were rewarded in amounts from $500 to $1000. Moving forward the awarded grant amount will not be capped at $1000, so please include a detailed description of what funding is needed and how it will be used towards your proposed activity.

Qualifications
To be qualified to receive funding from the Stanford M. & Lynda Adelstein Grant, you must be a non-profit organization with 501(-C) (3) status in the Rapid City area, and have a specific, unfunded opportunity.

How to Apply
We realize that the grant writing process can be time consuming, and we aim to streamline this process as much as possible in order to facilitate quick execution of opportunities and funding. Please submit a brief grant narrative to the Rapid City Arts Council describing the opportunity for which funds are needed that includes:
  • Dollar amount requested.
  • Description of the proposed activity.
  • How this event will contribute to the quality of arts in the area.
  • How the grant will be used.

How Recipients will be chosen:
A small committee appointed by the Rapid City Arts Council will be responsible for reviewing grant requests, and determining eligibility. Grants are funded on a first-come basis while funds are available.
