JACQUI DIETRICH
Executive Director

Jacqui Dietrich is the executive director of the Rapid City Arts Council, the designated arts agency for the City of Rapid City, South Dakota. In this role, she leads creative placemaking and economic development efforts to benefit all residents and the local economy. She also promotes public support for the arts and oversees the direction of the civically owned Dahl Arts Center, home to six galleries, an events center, education center, and curated permanent collection of local and regional art.

Prior to her current role, Jacqui was an executive with a Florida-based firm helping economic developers nationwide to support the growth and development of the small business sector. She has held a variety of other positions in the public and private sector focused on innovative approaches to economic development and community building. At the Downtown Denver Partnership in Denver, Colorado, Jacqui managed a community center and nationally recognized public-private partnership with the City and County of Denver to foster entrepreneurship. 

Jacqui holds a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Colorado Boulder and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Black Hills State University. She studied anthropology at Augustana University. She is originally from western South Dakota and resides in Rapid City.

​   DENISE DU BROY
​   Museum Director & Curator


Denise Du Broy is the curator and gallery director for the Rapid City Arts Council (RCAC) at the Dahl Arts Center in Rapid City, South Dakota. She began her position as curator for the RCAC in 2012. Denise is responsible for curating the changing exhibitions in the four professional galleries located at the Dahl Arts Center as well as overseeing the RCAC's permanent collection which is housed in the basement of the art center. She also assumes the responsibility of overseeing the work that is presented in the Gift Shop at the Dahl. 

Prior to accepting her position with the RCAC, Denise was a professional artist. She grew up in California where she received a bachelor of arts degree from the University of California at Santa Cruz in Arts,Crafts and Their History. After touring Europe for five months and then returning to build and operate a production ceramics studio in California, Denise eventually went on to do post graduate work at San Francisco Art Institute until later accepting a teaching position at Crossroads High School in Santa Monica where she taught art for twelve years while maintaining her own painting studio and career.

Since moving to South Dakota in 1993, Denise has been a volunteer at the Dahl Arts Center working on the exhibits committee. She was co-chair of the Visual Arts Advisory Board and was a past board member for the RCAC.

​JEANNIE LARSON 
Assistant Curator & Volunteer Coordinator


Jeannie is the Assistant Curator and Volunteer Coordinator for the Rapid City Arts Council. She holds her Masters of Fine Arts in photography from the Academy of Art in San Francisco. Prior to being employed as the Assistant Curator, Jeannie was a volunteer for the RCAC for several years. Jeannie enjoys working directly with artists to make sure their exhibiting experience at the Dahl Arts Center goes smoothly.

In her spare time, she enjoys anything to do with the outdoors, whether it be fishing or hiking throughout the beautiful Black Hills.

MELISSA NELSON
Education Director


Melissa Nelson grew up in Rapid City, but only recently moved back home. She has her Bachelor of Arts with a major in Comprehensive Art from Chadron State College along with a minor in Marketing and a Master's in Education. She also received a teaching certificate in K-12 Art from Arizona State University. She has 4 years of management experience and several years of experience in teaching art. Melissa's main goal is to bring art education to elementary students and to encourage the youth to find their future in art and how it can open creative career opportunities. She looks forward to meeting with the educational leaders in the community to build programs that fit our communities plans and needs. She believes we all play an essential part in supporting the arts in education.

STEPHEN BRANCH
Facilities Manager/Emerging Performing Artists Coordinator

After more than thirty years in higher education and as a performer, Stephen has made a complete return to his beloved Black Hills. Along with his wife, Nanette, he is quite firmly rooted in the community.

When not at the Dahl, Stephen might be found directing the First United Methodist Church choir,  teaching private voice lessons, writing and performing mono-dramas of  Black Hills historical characters, and teaching music classes at John Witherspoon College. In his spare time, he loves to harass fish throughout western South Dakota and the Black Hills with pole and line.

JOSH MIRANDA
Events Coordinator
​

Born and raised in Chamberlain, South Dakota.  Josh worked as a nature and landscape photographer for the Outdoor Network's adventure and outdoor television division as well as ran his own stock videography/photography company which took him to live in Austin, TX; Los Angeles, CA; and Denver, CO. Josh now calls the beautiful Black Hills home and handles event and venue coordination at The Dahl Arts Center.  Be they charitable gala's, corporate dinners, gallery receptions, film festivals, fundraisers, weddings, concerts, non-profit initiatives, etc. Anything event and PR based Josh has you covered. Works directly in developing client acquisition and rapport for revenue and account profitability for the Rapid City Arts Council 501(c)(3) non-profit.

LEAH KILLIAN
Marketing and Communications Manager

Leah Killian has been heavily involved in the arts since she was a small child, and has experience in both vocal and theatrical performance, photography, drawing, mixed media, and pottery. Leah has worked in various art marketing and art education positions in the San Francisco Bay Area, CA, Wichita Falls, TX, and Rapid City, SD. Originally from Fargo, ND, she is pleased to be back home in the Dakotas, and has enjoyed living in the Black Hills since 2010.
​

When she isn't focusing on her artistic and work related pursuits, she enjoys breeding Cavalier King Charles Spaniels, volunteering at church, and being a Master Gardener. Leah fully believes that the world is full of wonderful opportunities, and if you are bored, it is your own fault.
She is thrilled to be in a position to bring the opportunities of expression and creativity to others!

VICTORIE WILSON
Front Desk

Victorie manages the front desk at the Dahl Arts Center, greeting guests, answering questions, and giving advice on local restaurants and attractions. Before coming to the Black Hills, she earned her B.S. in Production Animation from Dakota State University. Victorie enjoys the freedom her employment has allowed her, working on personal projects such as character design and story writing in her free time. All while creating a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere in an art-centric environment.

When not at the Dahl Arts Center, Victorie and her fiance can be found on hiking trails, rockhounding, or playing video games.

The Rapid City Arts Council (RCAC) is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization that manages the Dahl Arts Center under contract by the City of Rapid City. We are one of the oldest and most respected arts councils in South Dakota, incorporated in 1968.

​We bring art and people together to inspire creativity and innovation and to encourage diversity through dynamic partnerships that strengthen the communities we serve.
As responsible leaders, we carry out our mission through visual arts, performing arts, arts education programs, and by supporting artists and arts organizations in the community. Through a public-private partnership with the City of Rapid City, we provide artistic and cultural development for the community, and manage the Dahl Arts Center.
