SMALL PIECES ART SHOW - CALL FOR ARTISTS
May 22 - June 19 This year’s them is: “In Nature, nothing is perfect and everything is perfect.” Although we will accept art from any theme or category, the art piece that, in the judge’s opinion, best interprets our theme will win a theme award. • We will accept work in any medium. Must be the artist’s original work presented in its original medium. • Although it may be smaller, the piece must fit in an 8x8x8 inch wall space. All pieces hang on the wall, so a hanger that will supports your art piece is required. • Adult and two Youth divisions. Teen: age 13 through 17. Junior: age 12 and younger. • $15 Entry Fee for Adult, $10 Teen, $5 for Juniors, to be paid at the time the artwork is submitted. • No jury selection. • Art Expressions Gallery reserves the right to refuse any submission that is inappropriate. • Art Expressions gallery is not responsible for loss of or damage to the displayed artwork. • No show submission may be removed until the end of the show. • If you choose, we will list your item for sale. HOMESTAKE OPERA HOUSE: CALL FOR BLACK HILLS ARTISTS
HOH is partnering with the Lead/Deadwood Arts Center (LDAC) to create a Residency For Recovery program in the Northern Black Hills Region of SD in 2021, and take the lead in the visual arts portion of the program. The HOH is accepting proposals for a one-time community residency for Black Hills Artists. RFR creates an opportunity for artists to dialogue with the community in a public space. RFR allows artists to be creative problem-solvers while building community bonds during a unique time. Emphasis is on art as a way of engaging and addressing the challenges communities face. UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH DAKOTA NORTHERN PLAINS INDIAN ARTIST RESIDENCY
Application Deadline: February 1, 2021 Artists who are registered members of a tribe in the Northern Plains region are eligible to apply for the residency. The artist-in-residency will spend the entire month of June living and working at the University of South Dakota. The artist is expected to work on a new or ongoing visual arts project. DAHL MOUNTAIN PHOTO COMPETITION & EXHIBIT
Application Deadline: February 5, 2021 The Rapid City Arts Council is again encouraging all photographers to submit their best work for the upcoming 17th Annual Dahl Mountain Photo Competition. This is a juried photography exhibition based on mountain culture. Mountain culture is a lifestyle that includes ideas, values and beliefs that are shared by people thriving in or near a mountainous terrain. Judges will select the show through a blind jury process. There are three exhibit categories. They include Youth (18 and younger), Adult - Amateur/Hobbyist and Adult – Experienced / Professional. Judges will award First, Second and Third place in Adult-Amateur/Hobbyist and Adult-Experienced/Professional, as well as a Best of Show Award and a Best in Youth Award. OPEN CALL FOR EMERGING ARTISTS OF THE BLACK HILLS
No Submission Deadline | Dahl Arts Center Bruce H. Lien Cultural Cafe The Rapid City Arts Council is announcing an open call to emerging visual artists. The RCAC encourages artists to submit proposals for exhibits showcasing their original works of art in the Bruce H. Lien Cultural Café and EVA Gallery. Through a variety of exhibitions showcasing artists of all different mediums, this program mentors emerging visual artists and assists in increasing their public exposure through the opportunity of a solo exhibition. Are you interested? Not quite ready for a solo exhibition? Get your artist friends together and submit a proposal for a group show of 1-5 artists. Each artist should complete an application and indicate that they are applying as part of a group and include the other participating artists names.
