RCAC Announces New Executive Director - PRESS RELEASE
August 25, 2022 // The Board of Directors of the Rapid City Arts Council (RCAC) is pleased to announce that Jacqui Dietrich has been named executive director effective August 29, 2022. The announcement follows a national search led by the RCAC Board of Directors with support from Ter Molen Watkins & Brandt, a Chicago-based consulting firm specializing in arts nonprofits.
The RCAC is Rapid City’s designated arts agency, focused on creative placemaking and economic development efforts to benefit all residents and the local economy. Founded in 1968, RCAC coordinates accessible programming, dynamic partnerships, and committed advocacy to grow broad community support of the arts. Through a public-private partnership with the city, RCAC manages the civically owned Dahl Arts Center, including six galleries, an events center, classrooms, and a renowned permanent collection of local and regional art.
“Jacqui will be a great asset for RCAC and the community,” said Matthew Whitehead, president of the RCAC Board of Directors. “She has extensive experience in creative economic development and organizational leadership, a passion for community building, and the drive to advance our plans for the region’s cultural sector and its impact in the community.”
Dietrich was most recently an executive with a Florida-based firm helping economic developers support the recovery and growth of the small business sector. She has also held a variety of positions in the public and private sector including at the Downtown Denver Partnership, where she managed a nationally recognized public-private partnership and community center with the City and County of Denver to foster entrepreneurship.
“I’m honored to join the RCAC as executive director,” said Dietrich. “I look forward to working with our staff, key partners, members, donors, volunteers, and the public to represent the interests of the cultural community and create greater access to education through the arts. I’m eager to share in the goal of cultural equity and creative economic development to enrich life in western South Dakota– to make it a place unique to us.”
Dietrich holds a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Colorado Boulder and a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Black Hills State University. She studied anthropology at Augustana University. She is originally from western South Dakota.
