SOUTH DAKOTA ARTISTS' LEGACY PROJECT

The South Dakota Artists' Legacy Project is a collaborative production of the Rapid City Arts Council (RCAC) and filmmaker Randal Iverson. The RCAC believes in the value of promoting regional artists, educating students and archiving artists in our permanent collection. We are proud to present these artists through this project.

SARAH ROGERS
We are very pleased to present Sarah Rogers as our first artist in this series. Sarah is a well-known and extremely talented regional painter who is at the apex of her career. Her work is shown nationally with her primary South Dakota gallery being located in Hill City. Sarah's watercolor paintings are immediately recognizable through her unique style of paint application and vibrant use of color. Sarah's subject matter usually focuses on birds and animals or as she likes to call them "critters".

DALE LAMPHERE
The Rapid City Arts Council and videographer Randal Iverson are very excited to present the second video in our South Dakota Artists's Legacy Project featuring South Dakota Artist Laureate, Dale Lamphere. In this profile, the artist presents his philosophy, his story and the body of his work, culminating with his two most recent and massive sculptures: Dignity and Arc of Dreams. In his his own voice, Dale talks about his 47 year career as a working artist and the inspiration he draws from the land and the people living on the prairie and the Black Hills region.

DWAYNE WILCOX
The Rapid City Arts Council and videographer Randal Iverson are proud to present the third video in our South Dakota Artist's Legacy Project featuring Rapid City artist,
Dwayne Wilcox. In this video profile, Dwayne shares some of his history and experience as a working artist for the past thirty years. We follow him from Pine Ridge, SD to Santa Fe, NM and back again as he highlights his influences and philosophy on art, art markets and ledger art. Dwayne is also the 2019 SD Governor's Award recipient of the Award for Distinction in Creative Achievement.

The Rapid City Arts Council staff and Board of Directors thanks the City of Rapid City for continuously supporting our mission and the arts. The generosity of our many volunteers, donors, and members drives our mission to champion inclusive, innovative and inspiring arts opportunities to enrich the communities we serve.  Additional support comes from the South Dakota Community Foundation, Black Hills Community Foundation, and the South Dakota Arts Council with funds from the State of South Dakota through the Department of Tourism and the National Endowment for the Arts. Special thanks to our events sponsor, Bierschbach Equipment. The Dahl Arts Center is a municipal facility of the City of Rapid City and is managed by the Rapid City Arts Council on behalf of the Rapid City community.
