Pocket Junkies to Headline the Emerging Performing Artists Season Kickoff by the Rapid City Arts Council on September 1st

RAPID CITY, SD – The Rapid City Arts Council announces the season kickoff of the Emerging Performing Artist Program with a performance by up-and-coming artists and The Pocket Junkies on September 1st at the Bruce H. Lien Cultural Café & Gallery at the Dahl Arts Center from 6–8 PM. The festivities for the night include a showcase featuring an open-mic style showcase of local Emerging Performing Artists from 6-7pm, with a performance by The Pocket Junkies to follow from 7:15-8pm. The Pocket Junkies is composed of Sivan Hoch on Saxophone, Fred Epstein on Drums, and Caleb Buum on Bass.

Founded in 2013 by the Rapid City Arts Council, the Emerging Performing Artists (EPA) program provides up-and-coming artists with various opportunities to perform, reach local audiences, and find support. Each session includes performances by emerging artists and a workshop or studio session with professional guests. The public is welcome to attend as audience members. This monthly event will typically happen on the first Friday of the month from 6-8pm.

The EPA program is open to up-and-coming artists ages 14+. The focus will be on youth and young adult artists, mainly channeled for musicians, but other forms of artistic performance are welcome and encouraged!

While this is a program for performers, the audience is just as crucial to the success of this event. EPA events are free and open to the public. The beer and wine bar will be open. Artists interested in performing in the open-mic style “Showcase” or the professional workshop or house show can sign up at: rapidcityartscouncil.org/emerging-artists

2023-2024 EPA events are:
September 1 -  with Pocket Junkies House Show
October 6 - with Dylan Lewis House Show

November 3 - with Jonny Hastings House Show

December 1 - Professional Guest Workshop

January 12 - Professional Guest Workshop

February 2 - Professional Guest Workshop

March 1 - Professional Guest Workshop
